Trailer Time: My Soul to Take, directed by Wes Craven

I'm starting to look at Wes Craven's name the same way I look at John Carpenter's. Seeing it preceding the title of any flick usually means I'm in store for 90 minutes of pure crapola. It's one of the reasons I'm worried about Scream 4, but that's a story for another day.

The trailer for Craven's next film, My Soul to Take, has been released. Think of the most generic horror movies you've seen over the last few years and you've got this one in a nutshell. The only reason I'm even remotely interested is because it stars Shareeka Epps, who was so good opposite Ryan Gosling in Half Nelson a couple of years ago. Otherwise, this one looks like one to sleep through.

The film is set for an October 8th release. Whether or not it'll be in a theater near you is another story. Check out the trailer, followed by the synopsis. Is anybody still interested in anything Wes Craven does outside of the Scream movies?

SYNOPSIS
In the sleepy town of Riverton, legend tells of a serial killer who swore he would return to murder the seven children born the night he died. Now, 16 years later, people are disappearing again. Has the psychopath been reincarnated as one of the seven teens, or did he survive the night he was left for dead? Only one of the kids knows the answer. Adam “Bug” Heller was supposed to die on the bloody night his father went insane. Unaware of his dad’s terrifying crimes, he has been plagued by nightmares since he was a baby. But if Bug hopes to save his friends from the monster that’s returned, he must face an evil that won’t rest… until it finishes the job it began the day he was born.
