I still have a hard time accepting that it's really happening. The...umm, rather unique voice that is Harmony Korine, the guy behind Trash Humpers, Kids, Ken Park, and friggin' Julien Donkey-Boy, making a movie with Disney tween icons like Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens? Really? Oh, and James Franco's in it. Of course he is. James Franco is everywhere, especially where you least expect him. In fact, Franco showing up where he's least expected has become sorta...expected.
Spring Breakers is the film, and the conceit is pure Korine in every way. A group of college aged chicks attempt to rob a fast food joint in order to pay for their annual excursion, only to get caught and wind up in prison. Then Franco shows up as a rappin' drug dealer, who bails the girls out but only if they promise to off one of his chief rivals. Korine-styled craziness ensues. Ashley Benson, Rachel Korine, and Heather Morris make up the rest of the cast.
Our homie Brendon Connelly over at BleedingCool has uncovered a number of new photos and promo images from the film, but personally I'm dying to see how the trailer plays out, as the girls don't seem to appear in anything other than bikinis.
