Mel Gibson Packs for a "Summer Vacation"

Mel Gibson's a busy man all of a sudden. It was just yesterday that we heard he would be helming a Viking project alongside Leonardo Dicaprio. Not to mention his upcoming action thriller, Edge of Darkness, is only a few weeks from nationwide release. Darkness is his first lead role in more than six years. Gibson is also starring in Jodie Foster's upcoming black comedy, The Beaver.

Now Variety is reporting that Gibson has already lined up his next role, in yet another crime drama titled "How I Spent My Summer Vacation". Gibson, who is also penning the script, will star as a career criminal who is caught by Mexican police and sent to prison, where he learns to cope with the help of a 9 year old boy.

Gibson's only written two other films, The Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto. I loved Apocalypto, and was sorta lukewarm to Passion. It's good to see Gibson back as a fixture of the Hollywood scene, whether it's in front of or behind the camera.
