George Lucas has his hand in your pocket. He's wriggling around looking for your wallet. Ah, there it is. He's just gonna take the last $150 out and add it to the mountainous cashpile he's got at his ranch like a museum exhibit. Steve Sansweet of Lucasfilm just announced that all six Star Wars films would be released on Blu-Ray, and according to him “it won’t be in the too distant future".
No official release date has been given, nor any of the added features, but it's expected that this will be full of the usual bonus features, including never before seen "dailies" from the film shoots. Ooooh boy. You mean we get even more footage of Jake Lloyd flummoxing his lines like a rank amateur? Awesome!
Of course none of this matters. Once this comes out and everybody buys it(likely including yours truly), it'll be another year or two until the next next special collector's ultimate super duper director's cut superbit never before seen edition of Star Wars comes out on Blu-Ray. I know some people who've bought Star Wars literally ten times over. By the time they're dead they'll have spent so much on it they could've paid for a trip around the world, instead Lucas is at home using their cash to light his fireplace every night.
Whatever. I'm already looking to pre-order, but I ain't happy about it!
