Looks like I'm going to get my wish.In a recent blog post by Gaiman over at his blog, he goes through painstaking detail on what it's taken for him to get cracking on a screenplay of Anansi Boys. For those unfamiliar, Anansi Boys is the story of two very different brothers who discover that they are actually the sons of the spider god, Anansi. It's something of a follow-up to American Gods, which featured a war between the old and modern gods.
Back in April, Gaiman had tweeted that he was working on an Anansi Boys script, but he had no idea whether it would be for TV or film.
Neverwhere is my favorite of Gaiman's works. It's probably my favorite book ever. But after being disappointed by the British TV miniseries of it, I'm glad to know that Gaiman is planning this one in feature film format. That doesn't mean we'll ever see it in theaters. All we know is that he's writing a script. It could very well end up a TV movie on BBC. Whatever the case may be, this is something worth getting excited over. Now who can we get to play Fat Charlie?
