The Hangover director plans Belushi biopic

Back in 1989, Michael Chiklis(The Shield, Fantastic Four) made his big screen debut in Wired, a biopic about late comedian John Belushi. That film, based on the biography by Washington Post writer Bob Woodward, is almost universally reviled and derailed the actor's career for years.  So hopefully Todd Phillips(The Hangover) and Steven Conrad(writer of The Pursuit of Happyness) can do it some real justice.

THR is reporting that the two are planning a big screen biopic about Belushi, who died of a drug overdose back in 1982. Belushi's wife, Judy Belushi Pisano, wrote a biography about her late husband, from which most of the film will likely be based. She is credited as a producer on the film. No word on if Phillips will direct, although it's a possibility.

The question turns to whether or not Belushi's many notable friends(Robin Williams, Dan Akroyd, etc.) will sign off on having their likenesses used. And then there's the matter of who will actually play the role. Chiklis wasn't a good fit back then, but that was also his first real role. THR mentions that Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, and Ethan Suplee(American History X) are all contenders.
