Another rumor being thrown against the wall. Hopefully it has some meat to it. Comicbookmovie is reporting that Warner Brothers has finally given the thumbs up to begin pre-production on a superhero film based on the Justice League of America. They already have Batman's third film in line, plus Green Lantern on the horizon. With Superman all but confirmed soon after, the time was ripe for them to make a move.
Reports are that casting has quietly begun, but nothing is set in stone as of yet. In fact, this greenlight is said to be very tentative right now. But what's strange and doesn't quite jibe with that statement is that supposedly a final team roster has been nailed down. Check this out:
Green Lantern, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter. Excuse me? No Superman? No Batman? While I know it's possible to have the Justice League without the Big 2, you simply can't do that here. You'd be kicking off the franchise with one leg already crippled. With the exception of Green Lantern, the film is meant to be an introduction to the rest of the heroes, in hopes that it'll spark interest in future solo movies.
This one is still a pretty shaky rumor as far as I can tell, but I expect we'll hear something very soon. Either a confirmation or a flat out denial.
