Lost director to reboot Jack Ryan franchise

Back in October we learned that Chris Pine(Star Trek) would be taking on the role of Tom Clancy's CIA analyst hero, Jack Ryan, in an intended reboot of the franchise. The character has been seen in four films to date, most portrayed by Ben Affleck in 2002's The Sum of All Fears. Alec Baldwin and Harrison Ford have are the other two actors to have played the role.

The Sum of All Fears was initially intended to be a reboot itself, but nothing really came of it, and Paramount has been trying to get the franchise going again ever since. In 2008, Sam Raimi was attached to the job of directing a new Jack Ryan film, but that fell through. Now it looks like Paramount has their guy, and it's sortof an odd choice: Jack Bender.

Never heard of him? Not really a surprise. He's been part of JJ Abrams' crew for years now, directing a number of episodes of Lost, Alias, andFelicity. But as for film work, his biggest claim to fame is 1991's Child's Play 3
The first film in the new Jack Ryan series will be titled Moscow, and features Ryan as a fresh faced Marine who goes to work for a Russian billionaire, but finds himself implicated in a terrorist plot.
