One of the worst storylines in Uncanny X-men history was
The Draco. The basic point of the story was to introduce us to Nightcrawler's(played by Alan Cumming in X2) real father, Azazel. Azazel turned out to be this lame Satan-like demon, who got Mystique knocked up one night and the rest is rather pathetic history. It stands as the shining example of what happens when an incompetent writer is given way too much control of a franchise. Most X-men fans do their best to ignore The Draco, but apparently director Matthew Vaughn doesn't want us to forget it so easily.
He's cast Jason Flyming
(Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
) to play Mystique's baby daddy in X-Men: First Class, the upcoming film detailing the teenage adventures of the original X-men. Flyming has been in pretty much every film Vaughn has ever made(Vaughn produced Lock Stock), so it was only a matter of time before we found out his role in this as welll. Flyming made the announcement at this weekend's Movie-Con, and said the role will require a ton of make-up and a CGI prehensile tail.
I'm as excited for this movie as anything, but for the life of me I don't understand why a convoluted and virtually unknown character like Azazel would be included. I can't wait until the script for this thing hits the internet because combining all these different storylines(Magneto and Xavier, Sebastian Shaw, Azazel) effectively is going to be tough.
