Afterwards, there was some talk of a possible sequel. Collins wrote two more novelized sequels, Road to Purgatory and then Road to Paradise. He'd been hoping to both write and direct a film based on Purgatory, with the most recent news from back in 2008 indicating he would do just that.
With the release of Road to Perdition on Blu-Ray yesterday, Collins has had opportunity to update fans on the sequel's progress. In an interview with Movieweb, he indicated that the project is still in the works and that things have gotten "very serious". The biggest news to come out of it is that he will no longer be directing the film, which will take place 10 years after Perdition's conclusion and will follow a vengeance seeking Michael O'Sullivan, Jr.
