Stephen Sommers returning for G.I. Joe Sequel

When your film makes over $300M worldwide it quiets a lot of critics. One of the most persistent rumors that swirled around the production of last year's GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra was that Paramount was unhappy with director Stephen Sommers' work and that he had been fired. That obviously turned out to be untrue, but if even a kernel of that was fact what were the chances of Sommers returning for the inevitable sequel?

Pretty good, apparently, as The Wrap is confirming that Sommers will indeed be back for another mission with the real American heroes. The extremely busy duo of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have turned in a draft of their script already, and Paramount is said to be pleased. If it's got stuff that blows up and Scarlett and Baroness in skintight leather then I'm sure all parties(including me) will be very happy.
