* Remember that story a couple of days ago about the Justin Bieber biopic? Well, it already needs another director, as
An Inconvenient Truth
director Davis Guggenheim has already passed on it. It didn't really make much sense other than the fact that he probably would've become a much richer man off it. Still, the official reason given is that he's too busy promoting his next doc, Waiting for Superman. I think he probably got a phone call from some chick and all she said was "Really"?
* Miramax is pushing ahead with plans for their remake of An American Werewolf in London. They've hired Fernley Phillips, "writer" of
The Number 23
to pen the script. Anyone who saw The Number 23, which featured a Jim Carrey so depressing it made his character in
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
seem like Bozo the Clown, you probably have no hope that this remake will be any good. On the positive side, the plan is to try not to replicate the 1981 original.
* Uber hottie Scarlett Johansson is getting away from the black leather spandex(presumably) and going on a road trip with Vince Vaughn in his upcoming film, Old St. Louis. Vaughn is producing and starring alongside Sco Jo in a story about a travelling toy salesman who reconnects with his dauther(Chloe Moretz) while on the road. Johansson will play Vaughn's love interest. David O. Russell
(I Heart Huckabees
) is directing. I hope they aren't trying to compete with
Paper Moon
, for my money one of the best movies ever made about father/daughter relationships.
