Say what you want about Nicolas Cage as an actor, the guy certainly knows how to make every production interesting. He's not againt flying the coop at the last second, or making outlandish demands in order to get his way. Take his latest escapade which includes both of things. Cage has been attached to director Joel Schumacher's thriller, Tresspass, for awhile now. He'll be teaming up with Nicole Kidman to play a married couple who's home is invaded by sadistic criminals searching for a stash of diamonds.
With production set to begin in less than two weeks, Cage suddenly took a powder and flew off to the Bahamas in a huff. Why? Maybe somebody finally handed him a copy of Schumacher's last two movies. No, Cage suddenly changed his mind and didn't want to be the husband. He wanted to be the lead kidnapper. The studio gave in to his demands, and thought all was well. I guess not. Nobody could get ahold of the mercurial actor for days, with the thought being that he had pulled out of the film altogether. This obviously threw everybody for a loop, and plans were hastily made to move on without him.
Now seemingly out of the blue he's had a change of heart. Deadline is reporting that Cage will indeed be a part of Trespass. What's more, he's back in the role of the husband. What changed his mind? Honestly, if I understood how Cage's brain works I'd be quite concerned.
