Trailer Time: Trust, starring Clive Owen and directed by David Schwimmer
If I asked you what kind of movie you'd expect a guy like David Schwimmer to direct, probably a thriller about a family who's seemingly perfect life is ruined when their daughter is the victim of rape wouldn't be at the top of your list. That's exactly what the former Friend star is doing, however, with his new film, Trust. It's set to premier at the Toronto International Film Festival next month, and already buzz is swirling.
Trust stars Clive Owen, Catherine Keener, and Tom McCarthy(Duplicity), and I have to admit I'm kinda diggin' this short promo trailer. Maybe I've got Schwimmer pegged all wrong. After he directed the extremely lousy Simon Pegg starring comedy, Run Fatboy Run, a couple of years ago I sorta assumed that'd be the last we'd see of him behind the camera. Based off of this I'm glad I was wrong. Check out the trailer for yourself and hit us up with your thoughts!
SYNOPSIS:
Safe and sound in their suburban home, Will and Lynn Cameron (Clive Owen and Catherine Keener) used to sleep well at night. When their 14-year-old daughter, Annie, made a new friend on-line – a 16-year-old boy named Charlie – Will and Lynn didn?t think much of it. But when Annie and Charlie make a plan to meet what happens in the next twenty-four hours changes the entire family forever. Charlie is really a 40-year-old serial pedophile (Tom McCarthy) and, once Annie?s rape comes to light, it becomes a touchstone event that reverberates through the entire family.
