Machete joins The Muppets' latest flick

Machete don't text, but he does have a fondness for puppets. Danny Trejo is just one of a number of actors that will be making appearances in The Muppets, the latest flick starring the beloved Jim Henson characters. We already know about Jason Segel being the lead guy, and Amy Adams is the key female character. Rashida Jones and Chris Cooper are involved also, with Cooper playing the villain.

Production Weekly has the details on the latest additions, sent via their usual tweet...

Hearing that Eric Stonestreet, John Krasinski & Ed Helms may be in Lady Gaga’s entourage for “The Muppets”, also mentioned Jack Black, Donald Glover, Jane Lynch, Danny Trejo, Zach Galifianakis as Hobo Jo & Paul Rudd as Walter the Muppet.

I'll be honest in admitting that I had no idea who Eric Stonestreet was until I looked him up just a few minutes ago. The very idea of Lady Gaga making an appearance, with those three in her crew, already sounds like it could be hilarious. Or irritating, depending on how it plays out.  I'm not at all excited about Donald Glover, part of the highly overrated Derrick Comedy. We've known about Galifianakis's role for a little while now, but the Jane Lynch and Danny Trejo additions should be great. Trejo will be playing a prisoner(shocker!!), while Lynch is his prison guard.

At this point the only question mark is Rudd, who may or may not be voicing Walter, but we'll just have to wait and see on that.

I don't know why I'm so interested in how this movie develops. The Muppets haven't been relevant to me for a very long time. Maybe it's my fond memories of The Muppet Show, but I want this newest venture to be a success.
