Sure Shots: Ant-Man; Dynasty; Death Note

 Quickly...

* It may not be The Avengers or Thor, but Ant-Man is the Marvel flick I'm most interested in hearing about. Why? Because Ant-Man kicks ass, and because Edgar Wright(Shaun of the Dead) is at the helm. The LA Times updates the glacial pace of the film's progress by noting that Wright is currently penning a brand new draft of the script. Still no timetable on when it'll be released, but according to Wright himself there's no rush.

* The flick based on the TV show Dallas never got off the ground(thank goodness), but it looks like fellow 1980s nighttime soap Dynasty might have a better shot. Original show creators, Richard and Esther Shapiro, are currently hard at work on a script for a big screen adaptation that will see the Karrington clan transported to the 1960s in order to trace their path to power. As long as they have Heather Locklear in it, count me as a supporter.

* Shane Black has signed on to direct a live-action American remake of Death Note, the popular manga/anime about a student named Light, who discovers a magic notebook that allows him to kill anyone whose name he writes in it.  I loved the first two Death Note flicks, but the third, a spinoff of sorts was woefully misguided. Black's greatest attribute is as as screenwriter(Lethal Weapon, The Last Boyscout), but he won't be scripting this. Instead he'll be working off a script by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry.
