creator Ryan Murphy and the Fresh Prince have had a falling out of some sort. If you'll recall, Murphy was all but set to direct a remake of the musical Annie for Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment as part of a joint venture with rapper Jay-Z. Smith's daughter, Willow, was to star as the plucky heroine. Deadline doesn't note the exact reasons why the break occurred. Maybe Smith and Co. finally took a look at Murphy's resume and noticed that he's far better at dreaming up ideas for TV than he is directing feature films? Ultimately this will have little effect on the project, as Will and Jada seem determined to make sure both of their kids follow in their footsteps.
