Rumor: Edgar Ramirez as the villain in Zack Snyder's Superman?

Edgar Ramirez has been on a roll. Not only was he nominated for a Golden Globe for his epic performance in the Carlos miniseries, but he'll be getting all immortal and stuff as Ares in the Clash of the Titans sequel. Playing a warmongering deity is one thing, but can he go toe-to-toe with the Man of Steel?  Latino Review is reporting that Ramirez is being looked at for the villain role in Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman film.

As it stands right now there arent many details. No word on if  this would be for the General Zod role, which Viggo Mortensen had previously been rumored for, or if it's as somebody else. Also it's unclear how far talks have advanced. Is he just a name Warner Brothers is tossing around? Or have negotiations begun? Has he auditioned? Nobody knows.

Ramirez has come a long way since he first caught my attention as part of Domino, opposite Keira Knightley. He's since gone on to have memorable roles in The Bourne Ultimatum, Steven Soderbergh's Che, and Vantage Point
