Sure Shots: Judd Apatow; Bluntman & Chronic; Tupac Shakur
* THR reports Judd Apatow is up to produce a comedy called Do-Gooders, which will set to satirize celebrities and the many public causes they champion. Universal has picked up the pitch from writers Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck(King of the Hill). Sounds like it could be one of those Christopher Guest movies, doesn't it?
* Everybody's favorite pot smokin' superheroes, Bluntman & Chronic, are coming back! No, Kevin Smith isn't making a movie of the popular duo, featured in a number of films(especially Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back). Instead, Jason Mewes will be producing an animated series for online distribution only. Snootchie bootchies! Thanks to Newsarama for that info.
* Antoine Fuqua(Brooklyn's Finest) wants you as his Tupac Shakur. The filmmaker has been prepping his biopic of the slain rapper, and has set up an open casting call for the role of the former Digital Underground rapper. Just go to www.InSearchofTupac.com and upload a 5-minute audition video. I think it's a good idea getting a fresh face to play 2Pac. We've seen others do it(like Anthony Mackie in Notorious), and nobody's yet been able to do the rapper's charisma justice. I might think he was an overrated lyricist, but there's no denying his charismatic and volatile personality.
