You'd think that with all the problems Barry Sonnenfeld has gone through lately getting Men in Black 3 off the ground, he'd want to stay away from aliens for awhile. Instead he's doubling down on the little green men, and throwing in some gnashing dinosaurs as well for one big ol' battle royale. Deadline is reporting that the director will be teaming up with acclaimed comics writer Grant Morrison on Dominion: Dinosaurs versus Aliens. Tell me you didn't get flashes of SyFy Channel mediocrity when you read that title!
Morrison will write the graphic novel that will serve as the basis for the film(sorta like how Cowboys and Aliens developed), and he will also pen the script which Sonnenfeld will then direct. Here's how Deadline describes the plot, although do we really need any explanation?
The graphic novel will chronicle a secret prehistoric world war battle. When an alien invasion attacks Earth in the age of the dinosaurs, the planet’s only hope is the giants that roam the planet with, it turns out, a lot more intelligence than previously realized.
Ok, so maybe it did need a bit of clarification. Unless the peanut brained dinos have all been implanted human brains then I don't know how this turns out to be much of a fight. But if anybody's going to make it convincing it'd be Morrison. Go read his graphic novel, We3 if you want to see how smart he can make animals seem.
