If I was underwhelmed, okay really a little annoyed, by the first teaser trailer for The Muppets then I'm friggin' crazy over this one. Like the Green With Envy spoof, this one is a hilarious take on The Hangover 2 titled "The Fuzzy Pack", and stars The Muppets, Jason Segel, and Amy Adams waking up in a drunken haze and getting into a bit of trouble. I love that silly pseudo hip hop playing in the background, and the cameo at the end is just perfect. Even the film critic blurbs are spot on, and reminiscent of the adult humor that the old Muppet Show used to work in so seamlessly. I mean really, does any kid know what Xanadu
is? Probably not.It looks like Disney is going to be inundating us with ads for this flick, so might as well get on board now. I'm curious to see how long they keep this whole spoof thing going before we get to see the actual storyline taking shape. But if they're all as perfect as this one then I won't care.
PLOT
On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways: Fozzie now performs with a Reno casino tribute band called the Moopets, Miss Piggy is a plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, Animal is in a Santa Barbara clinic for anger management, and Gonzo is a high-powered plumbing magnate.
The Muppets is set to open on November 23rd!
