Sure Shots: F. Gary Gray; The Thin Man; Nicole Kidman

* For someone who has scored a number of big time hits like Friday and The Italian Job, it seems like it takes forever for F. Gary Gray to land directing gigs.Yeah, he's been attached to a Kane and Lynch film for some time, but his next project will be The Last Days of American Crime, with Sam Worthington attached to star. Based on the graphic novel by visionary comic book writer, Rick Remender, the film follows a future society where the government plans to implement mind control on the population in order to prevent crime. Worthington will play a career criminal who must plan the the last heist in history.

* It had been speculated for weeks, and now it's confirmed that Rob Marshall will be re-teaming with Johnny Depp on a remake of The Thin Man. Based on a script by Jerry Stahl, the film will follow Nick and Norah Charles, two hard partying hard drinking socialites who also serve as private investigators.  The Thin Man was originally a book by Dashiell Hammett, which became a very popular film franchise. Personally I only dug the first one. Depp and Marshall just finished working together on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, due out in a couple of weeks.

* James Wan is a popular guy in Hollywood circles. And why shouldn't he be? Not only did he kickstart the Saw franchise on a minuscule budget, but his latest horror, Insidious, just passed $50M against a $1M budget. Now he's set to work with his biggest star yet, as Variety reports that Nicole Kidman is circling Wan's next horror, Spectre. No details on the story yet, but I'm guessing that it'll be more of a psychological yarn than a gory one.
