Bridesmaids' Wendi McLendon-Covey joins What to Expect When You're Expecting
I've been seeing Wendi McLendon-Covey everywhere lately. It seems like everybody who was even remotely involved with Bridesmaids has gone through a career surge, and the former star of Reno 911 is no different. In fact, as I'm writing this I just saw her in a commercial for Hillshire Farms sausage. Weird. Her next gig will be much more substantial than pushing frozen meat, as she's just signed on to the bloated self help comedy, What To Expect When You're Expecting.
She's not the only one, as Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford has also joined, with Glee's Matthew Morrison finally confirmed. They join a star-studded cast that will have the unenviable cast of making this terrible idea float: Jennifer Lopez, Brooklyn Decker, Chris Rock, Anna Kendrick, Elizabeth Banks, Rodrigo Santoro, Cameron Diaz, and Rob Heubel. It's based on the popular guide by Heidi Murkoff which aims to prepare prospective mommies and daddies on what new Hells they're in for.
Much like with He's Just Not that Into You, a half-assed story has been shoe horned in to make it all viable for the big screen. McLendon-Covey will play the best friend to Jennnifer Lopez's character, who I'm guessing gets knocked up. Morrison and Diaz's characters are partners in a reality dance show competition(Soul Train!!?), but eventually bang and she gets gummed up. Crawford will play Kendrick's ex in a subplot involving food trucks. >sigh<
Kirk Jones(Nanny McPhee) is at the helm, with a May 11th 2012 release date already set in stone.
