Yes, it keeps getting better. Every bit of news about Louis Leterier's upcoming heist film, Now You See Me, convinces me a bit more that it's going to be one of those movies that comes out of nowhere and becomes a surprise hit. Leterier has proven his action chops before, with the first two pretty good Transporter flicks, and I don't think he's received the proper credit for his improvements on The Incredible Hulk. Blame for his Clash of the Titans remake fall squarely on the heads of Warner Brothers, if you ask me. Now You See Me should put all of the director's talents to the forefront. It's a high concept heist film involving a clash between FBI agents and a team of world class illusionists. The last we'd heard, the in demand Jesse Eisenberg had agreed in principle to star, with offers made to Melanie Laurent(Inglourious Basterds) and Jake Gyllenhaal. Two shall stand, one shall fall.
Variety reports that Gyllenhall appears to definitely be out. Eisenberg on the other is definitely a go, and Laurent has entered final negotiations. The gorgeous French actress is currently wowing critics and audiences alike in the indie dramedy, Beginners. If you didn't love her after Inglourious Basterds, I guarantee you will after Beginners.
Boaz Yakin(Fresh, Uptown Girls) co-wrote the script with Edward Ricourt. No official start date has been determined yet, but it can probably be expected late in 2012 or early 2013.
