Sure Shots: Evil Dead; Spartacus; Arnold Schwarzenegger
* The idea of cult favorite Evil Dead finally getting the remake treatment is probably surprise enough for most fans. Add to it that Sam Raimi is producing, with newcomer Fede Alvarez directing and Diablo Cody(Juno) doing rewrites, followers of Ash are probably wetting themselves with anticipation. Well, that's where the surprises end. As I'm sure everybody and their grandmother expected, Bruce Campbell will be making a cameo in the film, as confirmed by Alvarez himself.(Dread Central)
* Hasn't there been enough stories surrounding Spartacus to last the next twenty servant uprisings? For a historical figure with very little provable information, Hollywood is obsessed with his life. Well we can add yet another one, and this promises to stick closest to the little bit we do know. GK Films has picked up a pitch from Michael B. Gordon(300), that will focus on the Third Servile War, in which Spartacus led an army of servants and gladiators against Rome. Nothing against Stanley Kubrick's 1960 Spartacus film, but I'll stick with the Starz Network's awesome Spartacus: Blood and Sand. [Variety]
* So now we know exactly when Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back: January 18th 2013. That's when the Governator makes his return to the big screen in The Last Stand, South Korean director Kim Ji-Woon's(I Saw the Devil) english language debut about a small town cop trying to defend against a crime boss recently escaped from prison.
