The spawn of Beyonce and Jay-Z halts Clint Eastwood's A Star is Born remake; DiCaprio won't star

In case you missed it last night at the VMAs, the biggest news had nothing to do with who won any of those meaningless music awards from a network that doesn't play music anymore, it had to do with Beyonce announcing she was carrying the spawn of Hova. Yep, she flashed her newly earned gut to the crowd to a curious round of screams and applause. What do you people care if she and Jay-Z have a kid or a pack of rabid muskrats?

Whatever, herpregnancy could cause an issue for one of the film projects she was set to co-star in, namely Clint Eastwood's remake of A Star is Born. While it's been a film that has been on the backburner for awhile, it really started to move back in January when Beyonce was confirmed to be starring in the classic story of a fresh off the bus wannabe actress who gets some tough love and guidance from an older, washed up leading man. Deadline is reporting that the proposed February start date will now have to be pushed back.

This will give Eastwood time to search for a new leading man. He spent a good deal of the time on set of J. Edgar trying to convince Leonardo DiCaprio to star in it, but with his already heavy commitments(Django Unchained, The Great Gatsby), he's turned the offer down. Will Smith and Christian Bale are said to be in contention, with Smith having been mentioned for the role previously.

Eastwood likes to work on a tight schedule, so I wouldn't be surprised if Beyonce is replaced outright. Considering the musical nature of the film, I'm surprised we haven't seen Hugh Jackman's name tossed around yet.
