* I know Ben Affleck has this great new career as a filmmaker and he wants to prove yet again how great he is...but this sounds like a bad idea. Affleck, who is set to shoot his Iran hostage flick, Argo, is looking at the espionage thriller Line of Sight as his next gig. He would both direct and star as an elite commando delivering cargo while handling a global threat. Ugh. But here's the kicker: the film will be seen in a sortof Halo-esque first person style. Yuck. The last movie I saw that did that was Doom, and even then it was only for a few minutes. Speaking of Halo, the script was written by Peter O'Brien, who was the writer of...you guessed it, Halo: Reach. [THR]
* Justin Lin might be the most popular director in Hollywood right now. Universal has been totally up his butt after the success that was Fast Five and the potential of a Terminator 5. So they've gone ahead and locked him down for two more movies. One of those is the sixth in the Fast and the Furious franchise. The other could be a spy flick titled Leading Man. The other a WWII film about the all Japanese-American 442nd Infantry Regiment. Dude, choose the latter.
* Because nobody demanded it, Transformers: Dark of the Moon is coming back to explode more eardrums. Yep, beginning this weekend you can help make Michael Bay even richer as the film opens in 246 IMAX screens for the next two weeks. $1B just isn't enough money, folks.
