Sure Shots: Resident Evil: Retribution; Anne Hathaway; The Thin Man
* Just a couple of weeks ago, fans of the Resident Evil franchise received the sad news that Sienna Guillory may not be returning to play the popular Jill Valentine in the next installment, Resident Evil: Retribution, to be replaced by another actress. Maybe there was a public outcry, but Guillory took to her Twitter feed and revealed that she had met with director Paul W.S. Anderson and was now back in the fold. Retribution is set to hit theaters on September 14th 2012.
* Despite reports, the only person confirmed for the Les Miserables adaptation by Tom Hooper(The King's Speech) is Hugh Jackman, although Russell Crowe, Helena Bonham Carter, and Geoffrey Rush have been rumored. Jackman recently had production on The Wolverine pushed back so he could tackle the musical first, so it's clear he has a lot of clout right now, and he's been using it to pursue Anne Hathaway for the female lead. She'd take on the role of Fantine, while Jackman is the main character, Jean Valjean. I can't get excited over this, but with so much star potential it's a hard film to totally ignore. [Empire]
* The Thin Man is a film that remains foremost in my thoughts, despite the fact that there's been very little actual movement on it lately. Johnny Depp is set to star as Nick Charles, married to socialite Nora, with the two teaming up to solve crimes while he drinks. Rachel Weisz had been rumored to star as Nora, but that has yet to be confirmed. Jerry Stahl had been attached to write the script, but a recent report from Deadline states that super scribe David Koepp(Spider-Man) has taken over.
