WarGames remake finds a writer in Noah Oppenheim

Shall we play a game? Back in June, MGM tapped Horrible Bosses and The King of Kong director, Seth Gordon, to helm their remake of WarGames. The iconic 1985 film starred Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy back when she was hot, in a story centered on a government supercomputer that nearly starts WWIII with the unwitting aid of a couple of nerds. With Gordon on board, the film already has one of Hollywood's fastest rising directors to hang it's hat on. All it needed was a similarly buzz worthy writer, and now Variety reports that guy's been found as well, as Noah Oppenheim will pen the script.

Oppenheim is the former producer on The Today Show who has transitioned successfully into the world of Hollywood. Well, we think he'll be successful, but nothing he's been hired to write has actually seen the light of day yet. He's recently been brought on to write an adaptation of The Maze Runner, and the remake of hit Swedish crime thriller, Snabba Cash.

Hard to believe that MGM was on the verge of vanishing just a year or two ago they were so strapped for cash. Part of their big comeback and rise to prominence has been this initiative to remake a number of their most popular films, including the upcoming Robocop and Poltergeist.
