3. The Debt
Helen Mirren and Sam Worthington star in this taut political thriller in the Munich style, detailing the internal struggle of three ex-Mossad agents in the wake of a terrible mission that made them national heroes. Also features Tom Wilkinson, Jessica Chastain, and Ciaran Hinds.
2. Attack the Block
Might be hard to find around your way at this point, but if Joe Cornish's off the wall alien invasion flick is nearby then make it a priority to experience this unique film.
1. A Good Old Fashioned Orgy
Jason Sudeikis leads a fantastic ensemble(Lucy Punch, Martin Starr, Tyler Labine) in an R-rated comedy that's a little bit Animal House, a little bit Wet Hot American Summer. He stars as a hard partying guy who convinces his best friends into one last bash before they lose their weekend hang out.
DVD Pick of the Week: In A Better World
I was as suprised as anybody when In a Better World took the Best Foreign Language award at this past year's Oscars, beating out both Biutiful and Dogtooth. I shouldn't have been shocked, considering it was from Dutch filmmaker, Susanne Bier, who has provided us some of the most emotionally charged foreign films of the last decade: 2004's Brothers(turned into a remake with Jake Gyllenhaal) and 2006's After the Wedding. The original title of the film is Haevnen, which in Dutch means "The Revenge", an apt title for a story that centers on a family walking the line between vengeance and forgiveness.
