Trailer Time: Contraband, starring Mark Wahlberg and Ben Foster

I'm a huge Mark Wahlberg fan. Seriously. The guy is in my favorite movie of all-time, and nobody has worked harder to sharpen his craft over the years. There's also no denying he seems to be magnetically drawn to really bland cop movies. We Own the Night. The Corrupter. Max Payne. Yuck. Unfortunately his latest film, Contraband, seems to fit in all too easily, despite the phenomenal roster of talent.

Directed by Icelandic actor/filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur, the film has the uninspiring premise of following a former criminal trying to turn a new leaf as a security guard, but when a family member ends up owing some shady folks a large chunk of cash, he gets pulled back into his old illegal ways. Witness Giovanni Ribisi as the most unconvincing gangster ever, Kate Beckinsale looking hot as always, and lots of bangin' hip hop beats. Marky Mark should feel right at home. I only wish we got a better look at what the always great Ben Foster is bringing to the table.

Contraband has been saddled with a January 13th 2012 release date, but you can check out the new trailer below...
