Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby to land on Christmas Day 2012

Next year, Leonardo Dicaprio totally owns your Christmas.  Any plans you might've had to...I dunno, go visit family or other such nonsense, need to get put on hold. You've got two Leonardo Dicaprio movies to see that day, and both are pretty much unmissable.

The Great Gatsby, which Baz Luhrmann is currently filming up in Australia, will land on December 25th next year. That puts it head to head with Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained, which Leo will play the chief baddie in. Wanna know just how insane the December month will be? Peter Jackson's The Hobbit, Ang Lee's Life of Pi, Judd Apatow's Knocked Up spinoff, Brad Pitt's World War Z, and Tom Hooper's Les Miserables will all be vying for our attention. Something's got to give.

So I know where I'll be next Christmas. If you've been following the site for long you know how much I adore F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel(and the Robert Redford film), and how intently I've been watching the casting on this one. The Great Gatsby will feature Dicaprio, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, Tobey Maguire, Elizabeth Debicki, Jason Clarke, and Callan McAuliffe.
