James Gandolfini in talks to join Steve Carell comedy, Burt Wonderstone
While the search continues for a female lead to star opposite Steve Carell and Jim Carrey in the magician rivalry comedy, Burt Wonderstone, there doesn't seem to be any dispute over who they want to fill one of the film's other major roles. Variety reports that James Gandolfini(The Sopranos) has entered talks to play a different kind of "boss" this time, as the casino owner who employs the title character.
Steve Carell plays Wonderstone, one half of a failed Las Vegas magic duo who must reunite to square off against a younger, hipper upstart(Carrey). Gandolfini will play Doug Munny, a billionaire who own the Aztec casino where the duo perform their act.
Don Scardino is directing, based on a script initially written by the Horrible Bosses duo of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, but was given a fresh rewrite by Jason Reitman(Up in the Air). Gandolfini will be seen next in the potential Oscar contender, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.
