Tops at the Box Office: Real Steel wins by TKO

1. Real Steel- $27.3M
Disney should be relatively happy with the start for Real Steel, their robot boxing pic headlined by Hugh Jackman. While Jackman was hardly the draw here, it's clear the mechanized action appealed to the targeted audience. The film scored an A+ Cinemascore from the 18-34 demographic, and an "A" score overall. That usually bodes well for any film's longevity. While it may struggle to recoup it's $100M+ budget domestically, it's likely to land some heavy body blows internationally.

2. The Ides of March- $10.4M
Well, if profits were related to a film's cast, The Ides of March would be an Avatar-killer. Unfortunately audiences have no interest in political movies nowadays. A sad commentary on our society if you ask me, especially considering the current climate, but that's a topic for another day. While the opening total is about the same as George Clooney directed films always make, it continues the downward trend of Ryan Gosling as a box office star.
3. Dolphin Tale- $9.16M/$49.1M
Last week's champ registered the slightest drop of the week at only 34%.
4. Moneyball- $7.5M/$49.3M
5. 50/50- $5.5M/$17.3M
6. Courageous- $4.6M/$15.9M
At this rate, probably won't match Fireproof's $33M haul.
7. The Lion King- $4.55M/$86M
8. Dream House- $4.46M/$14.5M
9. What's Your Number?- $3.05M/$10.3M
Whatever the number is, guaranteed this Anna Faris flop didn't hit it.
10. Abduction- $2.9M $23.4M
