Trailer Time: Black Gold, starring Antonio Banderas and Tahar Rahim

A film that I had completely forgotten about was Black Gold, which we last wrote about back in February when the first images started to drop. It's stayed firmly off the radar ever since, but now a French trailer has been released, and it looks like a more sprawling, Lawrence of Arabia style experience than previously thought.

Directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud(Seven Years in Tibet, Enemy at the Gates), an exact plot is still a little sketchy but it appears to involve fierce squabbles over oil between two warring families; a frowned upon romance; industrial greed; and much more. After languishing for awhile, Antonio Banderas seems to be on a roll again, and it's good to see Tahar Rahim(A Prophet) back as a leading man where I think he belongs. Mark Strong and Freida Pinto co-star. No word on when or if this will hit our shores since distribution hasn't been locked down, so let's keep our fingers crossed, shall we?
