Sure Shots: 'The Avengers'; 'Byzantium'; Jeffrey Dean Morgan
* If you recall, Captain America: The First Avenger(spoiler warning, folks) ended with Cap(Chris Evans) being awoken from a fifty year slumber into modern times, completely disoriented and mistrusting of those around him, including Nick Fury(Samuel L. Jackson). Joss Whedon recently revealed to EW that he'll be keeping with that theme for The Avengers, with the film mostly being seen from Cap's perspective. A smart move, in my opinion, although it would be cool if he were to switch that focus from film to film. Maybe have the godly Thor be the protagonist next time.
* Filming on Byzantium, Neil Jordan's first vampire film in like twenty years, is nearly complete, and so far they've done a pretty good job keeping the cast under wraps. So much so that nobody knew Tom Hollander(In the Loop) and Jonny Lee Miller(Trainspotting) were a part of the cast until Gemma Arterton revealed it to TheDailyMail. The film stars Arterton and Saoirse Ronan as a mother/daughter pair of vampires who hunt and kill together, until the daughter enters into a relationship with a young man dying of leukemia and she begins to question her own immortality. Caleb Landry Jones, Sam Riley, and Daniel Mays co-star.
* Jeffrey Dean Morgan aka the poor man's Javier Bardem, has joined Chloe Moretz in The Rut, a film some are comparing to Winter's Bone. Directed by Karyn Kusama(Aeon Flux, Jennifer's Body), the film centers on a girl who ventures alone into the woods to hunt, facing all sorts of dangers, in order to win the approval of her father. Production is set to begin in October. [THR]
