Wow. Thanks to Canal+(via BleedingCool) we have the first trailer for Upside Down, the topsy turvy sci-fi/fantasy starring Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst. After the film was first announced a couple of years ago it's been at the top of my most anticipated list, and thanks to a ton of gorgeous photos it's only grown in my mind. Now the trailer is here and it's as vivid and daring as I had hoped it would be. I've never seen anything from director Juan Solanas before, but if this is what he has to offer the future should be pretty exciting.
The film is essentially a love story set across two worlds, both within sight of the other, hanging inverted in the air. Sturgess is from the poorer lower world, and Dunst from the more affluent world in the sky above. The two met briefly as children, and he has been unable to get her out of his mind ever since. When he sees her as a grown up woman, it sparks his need to get to her at any cost, even if it means breaking the social order and the laws of science to do it.
There's no US distribution yet, but I expect that will be rectified soon. Check out the trailer for Upside Down below....
