James Franco will teach Josh Gad how to pick up chicks in 'The Game'

I've never had the benefit of seeing Josh Gad on stage in Book of Mormon, so for me he's always just been that lovable, slightly off nerd guy in movies like 21, The Rocker, and Love and Other Drugs where he was caught wacking off to a porn featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway. Who can blame him? Now it looks as if he'll be taking that dork character he's so comfortable with and having him taught a thing or two about mackin' on chicks, with his teacher to be none other than James Franco.

Gad will join Franco in an adaptation of The Game, based on Neil Strauss' autobiography detailing his experiences as part of the seduction community. Franco was the first to join the film last month, playing a Yoda-like guru named Mystery who teaches dudes the secret techniques to score with women and always have the upper hand in any relationship. Gad will play Strauss, a Rolling Stone journalist who seeks help from the famous pick-up artist.

To be perfectly honest, Gad doesn't do much for me, and his presence makes me think this film is aiming to be a comedy. I hope not, considering the film is being  written and directed by Brian Koppelman and David Levien who tackled similar material more seriously with The Girlfriend Experience. [Deadline]
