'Parks and Recreation' star Nick Offerman joins Diablo Cody's directorial debut, 'Lamb of God'
Admittedly, I've only seen a handful of Parks and Recreation episodes, usually on long airplane flights. Even then, Nick Offerman's overly masculine, libertarian Ron Swanson character proved to be show's true stand out....other than Aubrey Plaza's legs, that is. Offerman has used the show's success to bolster his Hollywood career, with two movies coming out next month alone. One is the Will Ferrell comedy, Casa de mi Padre. The other is the modern remake of 21 Jump Street.
Deadline reports that Offerman's next gig will be an unspecified role in Lamb of God, the directorial debut by Diablo Cody. The Young Adult and Juno scribe will tell the story of a young, devout Christian girl(Julianne Hough) who denounces God after a plane crash leaves her body burned and scarred. Her faith shattered, she travels to Vegas to experience life for the first time, and ultimately begins the path back to salvation. Octavia Spencer, Russell Brand, and Holly Hunter co-star.
The film already sounded good, but with Offerman coming aboard it's getting even better. Filming is set to begin this spring, so expect to see it in theaters next year.
