Surprised? Sequel to 'Insidious' in the works

It should come as a surprise to....oh, nobody, that a sequel to Insidious is being planned. James Wan(Saw)  and his frequent writing partner Leigh Whannell scored big with the psycho-horror film last year, earning nearly $100M on a miniscule $1.5M budget. Michael Bay spends that much just on dynamite and fireworks.

Details on the sequel are cloudy at this early stage, and it's unknown whether the previous stars, Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson, will be returning. A few weeks ago we learned Wilson will work with Wan again on his next horror, The Conjuring. So maybe he's known for awhile that Insidious 2 would follow a different couple with a kid possessed by an evil spirit? Then again, the conclusion certainly left the door open for them to return. I don't want to give away the ending, but if you haven't had a chance to see Insidious, make it a priority. It's by far the best work Wan has ever done, and shows he's more than just the guy who started the "torture porn" craze

THR notes that production should be getting underway soon, and since this will likely be another smallish shoot, we can expect to see it some time in 2013.
