Steven Soderbergh casts Vinessa Shaw in 'The Bitter Pill'
More Vinessa Shaw, please? Thank you. The underrated, criminally underused star of Two Lovers has been busier of late, showing up in the Chris Evans drama, Puncture, and most recently in Big Miracle. Nobody saw those movies. Just sayin'. Hopefully she'll get the exposure she deserves as part of Steven Soderbergh's upcoming thriller, The Bitter Pill.
Deadline broke the news of the casting, with Shaw joining yet another superb cast Soderbergh has put together. Rooney Mara stars as Emily Hawkins, a woman who turns to pharmaceutical drugs to cope with the release of her husband from prison. Channing Tatum plays the guy she's so worried about, with Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones co-starring. Shaw will play the wife of Law's character.
Scott Z. Burns(Contagion) wrote the script, with filming set to begin shortly. Shaw recently shot the indie drama, Stars, from director Derrick Borte(The Joneses).
