Custodial guardians get ripped in a new clip from 'Moonrise Kingdom'!
One of the big surprises emerging from this morning's unveiling of the upcoming Cannes slate was that Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom would not only be opening the festival but is also in competition. That doesn't happen often, and speaks to the possibility of this being Anderson's best film in quite some time. That's a pretty low bar, though, unless you count something like Fantastic Mr. Fox, which I don't.
A new clip from the quirk-filled comedy has been released, jamming Tilda Swinton, Edward Norton, and Bruce Willis into a a tense scene where a social worker(Swinton) chastises a cop(Willis) and a boy scout squad leader(Norton). They're all trying to find the two young lovers who have run away, throwing an entire town into disarray. Frances McDormand and Bill Murray co-star, and they're in the clip as well lurking in the background.
Moonrise Kingdom is set to open on May 25th, and if it walks away with the Cannes top prize, Anderson is going to have a nice feather in his cap to boast....[TheFilmStage]
