The Avengers may have taken a whoopin' stick to every box office record we've bothered to keep track of, but if we went solely on the photos for it you never would've thought it'd be the action packed experience it turned out to be. On the other hand you have Dredd, based on the ultra violent comic book which was turned into a crappy movie with Sylvester Stallone. The photos for it have captured the bloody aura of the Judge Dredd universe perfectly, and that trend continues with the latest batch.
Directed by Pete Travis(Vantage Point) with a script by Alex Garland, this grimier, grittier take on Judge Dredd has Karl Urban under the helmet, with Olivia Thirlby as telepathic trainee, Judge Anderson. They'll be taking on Ma-Ma, the matriarch of a criminal outfit holed up in an area known as Peach Trees. Lena Headey(Game of Thrones) stars as Ma-Ma, and in these newly released shots we get the first look at her character.
I'm not convinced there's much of a market for Dredd, but there's no denying everything we've seen so far has been right on point. Dredd will hit theaters on September 21st....[HeroComplex/Kinopoisk]
