Goldie Hawn, Zac Efron, Jason Bateman, Leslie Mann, Jason Sudeikis, and Malin Akerman join Adam Shankman's 'This Is Where I Leave You'

No offense to Greg Berlanti or David Yates, but I didn't start paying attention to This Is Where I Leave You until Adam Shankman came aboard to direct the film back in February. Shankman's movies always have a certain energy, and he has zero problem reeling in big time stars for pretty much anything he's got heating up on the fire. He's currently got a ridiculously stacked crew starring in Rock of Ages, which is due out in just a few weeks, and now he's doing it again.

Zac Efron, Goldie Hawn, Leslie Mann, Jason Bateman, Malin Akerman, and Jason Sudeikis have joined the cast, making this a project nobody should be able to ignore. Based on the novel by Jonathan Tropper, the story follows an eccentric, non-religious family who must sit Shiva for a week and get along as the final wish of their late patriarch. The severely underused Hawn will play the mother of the family, with Bateman, Mann, and Efron all as siblings. Akerman will play Bateman's cheating wife, who is having an affair with his boss, with Sudeikis in that role.

With Tropper doing the adapting for himself we should expect a fairly faithful adaptation. September is being targeted as the start date. [Deadline/THR]
