Sure Shots: James McAvoy; Ezra Miller; Saoirse Ronan

* One of the more intriguing projects we learned about recently were the dual features, The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: His and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Hers, two promising love stories written and directed by Ned Benson. The two halves would comprise one complete tale told from the perspectives of a troubled married couple: the wife who has decided to return to college; and her husband, a restauranteur. Jessica Chastain and Joel Edgerton had been set for the film, and while she remains on board, James McAvoy has now stepped in to the husband role.

*Japanese avant-garde/gore filmmaker Shion Ono(Cold Fish) has been attempting to get a film based on the disturbing true story of Norwegian metal band, Mayhem, off the ground for a few years now. First announced back in 2009, the film initially had Jackson Rathbone(The Twilight Saga) set to play black metal musician and convicted murderer, Varg Vikernes, but that plan fell through and neither did the film meet its target start date in 2010. The film isn't dead yet, though, and now indie star Ezra Miller(We Need to Talk About Kevin) is talking up a possible role in it. The Mayhem story is pretty incredible, with murder, suicide, arson, and Nazis all a part of the equation. The film would be based on Michael Moynihan's book, Lords of Chaos. [Vulture

* Saoirse Ronan(Atonement) is set to star in an adaptation of Vera Brittain's WWI memoir, Testament of Youth. The book follows her ultimate path to pacifism and feminism, staring with the enlistment of her brother into the war, soon followed by her lover. Both were killed soon after, and Brittain spent years serving as a nurse during the fighting. David Heyman(Harry Potter) is producing, with the novel to be adapted by Juliette Towhidi. Ronan has a ton of projects on the way so it's unclear when she could fit this one in. She'll star in Neil Jordan's vampire tale, Byzantium; an adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's The Host; and also Darren Aronofsky's Noah. [THR]
