One of the biggest surprises this year, besides the mammoth numbers earned by The Avengers, was the phenomenal success of Think Like A Man. Featuring a cast of recognizable faces but no proven stars, the film took in over $90M on a tiny budget hovering around $12M. But what was best about it was how it gave a number of under appreciated stars like Meagan Good, Romany Malco, Taraji P. Henson, and Michael Ealy a chance to shine in a smart romantic comedy with universal appeal.
So it was kind of a no-brainer for Screen Gems to move forward with a sequel, and they're taking the first steps by hiring original writers Keith Merryman and David A. Newman to start work on the script. Nothing's been confirmed yet on anything else, including who might be returning. The film turned out to be a huge boost for Kevin Hart, who also just signed to Screen Gems' remake of About Last Night. Don't be surprised if he comes back with a slightly meatier role. Love the idea of seeing these talented folks, who had so much chemistry, getting back together. Sequels to romantic comedies tend to not work out so well, so hopefully we won't see it venture too far from what made Think Like A Man so successful in the first place. [THR]
