Trailer Time: 'Django Unchained', starring Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio

The sneak peek we received yesterday of Quentin Tarantino's slavery era spaghetti western, Django Unchained, confirmed many of the suspicions hovering around the film. While the footage was brief, it felt very much like Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. While set during a very real, dark time in history, you could sense right off the bat Tarantino's outlandish, totally revisionist aims. Now that the full trailer has been released, we can see once and for all that Django Unchained is exactly what everyone hoped it would be and then some.

It's still a little incredible to see such a gathering of talent all in one place, most of whom are taking on roles we'd never expect. Jamie Foxx looks more charismatic than ever as Django, a slave set free by the German dentist turned bounty hunter, Dr. King Schultz(Christoph Waltz), to track down a crew of bad guys. In exchange, Schultz agrees to help Django track down his missing wife, Broomhilda(Kerry Washington), who is being held captive by the evil plantation owner, Calvin Candie(Leonardo DiCaprio).

Overall, it's pretty intense, and the use of Johnny Cash's 'Ain't No Grave' only gives the trailer a harder edge at the outset. It doesn't last, and soon we're whisked away into a world that is pure Tarantino, loud vintage music and copious amounts of stylized violence. We don't get to see nearly enough of the impressive supporting cast, but DiCaprio's hyper villainous performance looks to be enough reason to get excited. Could we be looking at two straight Best Supporting Actor wins emerging from Tarantino flicks? It's also very cool to see Foxx interacting with the original Django, Franco Nero.

Celebrate Christmas by opening up Django Unchained when it arrives on December 25th....
