Zachary Levi to play Fandral in 'Thor 2'?
With Thor 2 set to begin production next month, and likely to be one of the most important steps on the way to The Avengers sequel, a casting switcheroo is taking place. Josh Dallas, who played Fandral of The Warriors Three, has had to drop out of the film due to his commitments on the ABC series, Once Upon A Time. With the hit fairy tale show getting picked up for a second season, the schedules simply couldn't be worked out.
It didn't take long for Disney to start looking at replacement, and the name that has emerged is Zachary Levi, who most will recognize from TV's Chuck. It's a little ironic, since Levi was one of the contenders for the role back in 2010, but had to back out due to Chuck being picked up for another season. He was also one of the names rumored to play Superman in Man of Steel, before the gig went to Henry Cavill. With the exception of voicing one of the leads in Disney's Tangled, his film career has been pretty quiet. An offer hasn't been made to Levi yet, but it looks like it could happen at any time.
The Warriors Three were fun, like they are in the comics, but they didn't have a whole lot to do in the last film. Hopefully they'll be more of a factor this time. Thor 2 will be directed by Alan Taylor, and is set for release on November 15th 2013. [THR]
