Mads Mikkelsen drops out of 'Thor 2'

Nooo!! Those of us who have been huge fans of Danish actor, Mads Mikkelsen(After the Wedding, Clash of the Titans), have no doubt been hoping he was on the verge of his big breakout into the mainstream. It may still happen, but it won't be as the villain of Thor 2, as he has been forced to drop out of the superhero sequel.

Mikkelsen had come aboard to play an unknown baddie in the film, but he tells Zoomin Movies that commitments on the upcoming Hannibal TV series have forced him to drop out. That darn show is taking out everybody, it seems, as it is also responsible for taking David Slade away from directing Fox's Daredevil reboot. In case you hadn't heard, Mikkelsen will be playing a pre-Silence of the Lambs Hannibal Lecter working alongside the FBI in solving crimes. Sounds awesome, but it's unfortunate to see him lose out on a film that would certainly be his biggest American exposure yet.

Oh well. Hopefully somebody of his equal will come aboard to replace him. Thor 2 is slated to hit theaters on November 8th 2013.
