Sharon Stone, Andie MacDowell and Rainey Qualley join 'Mother's Day' cast

The growing ensemble for the indie drama, Mother's Day, already boasts one mother/daughter pair working opposite one another, with Susan Sarandon and Eva Amurri Martino amongst the first to be cast. Now there's another pair as Andie MacDowell and her daughter, Rainey Qualley, have come aboard. More interesting than that, however, is the addition of Sharon Stone, who unfortunately won't be dragging her sons along for the ride.

No boys allowed in this club, as the film will focus on the relationships between 12 different sets of mothers and daughters. The only other casting we know of at this point is Christina Ricci, but there's no indication that she'll be paired up with Stone. Whatever the case, that's only 6 of 24 so there's still a long way to go in the casting process. Maybe they'll find a way to snag Meryl Streep and Mamie Gummer? Sounds like a logical move to me.

Paul Duddridge will write and direct the film, which doesn't have a start date nailed down yet, nor a release date. I think we can all assume that Mother's Day weekend is the likely target. [Variety]
